Dani Whiting and Daniel Richardson have been named the newest Bulldogs of the Week after their performances last week. The honor is brought to you by Wright Wradio, the home of SWOSU Athletics on the dial where you can listen to the Dawgs on 95.5 'The Coyote.'
Whiting (Tomahawk, Wisc.) competed in the second collegiate track meet of her young career last Saturday at the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational. The freshman ran in her first ever steeplechase race – a race where runners must clear both hurdles and water jumps in an allotted distance. Whiting finished her 3000m steeplechase debut with a time of 12:31.31 good enough for a third place finish. That third-place finish was also the highest placing of any Bulldog in the meet.
Richardson (Cleburne, Texas) batted .429 over the course of four games last week for SWOSU Baseball, tallying six hits including three doubles and a triple while driving in five runs and scoring four himself. After an 0-for-3 night against Oklahoma City last Tuesday, the junior went 6-for-11 in SWOSU's three-game series against Arkansas-Monticello where he did all of his damage at the plate. Richardson was able to raise his season batting average over 40 points thanks to his weekend and now is hitting .253 on the year after going through a major slump earlier in the season.
